Former England goalkeeper Peter Shilton pulled no punches in his views on the current Three Lions number one Joe Hart.
Hart joined Torino on loan at the end of the summer transfer window after falling out of favour under new Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola.
Shilton was frank in his assessment of the 29-year-old, stating he was perhaps overrated by a lot of people.
“I stated before Euro 2016 that I didn’t think Joe Hart was as good as a lot of people thought he was” Shilton said in an interview on CalciomercatoTV.
“But he’s obviously a good goalkeeper. I feel he makes a few too many errors but obviously he has a lot of natural ability.”
Hart came under criticism for his performances for England at Euro 2016, and Shilton admitted he will now have to fight for his England place.
“Two mistakes in three games is obviously not good, and now he will be a real fight for his place with Jack Butland and Fraser Forster to keep the number one jersey”
Asked if he felt sorry for Hart having to leave Manchester City he replied: “No not really, because he’s a professional.
“One manager has his own opinions so you have to go out and prove him wrong. Maybe going to Italy is not ideal but if he starts performing well then he’ll obviously be in contention to keep his place for England.”
