Moussa Sissoko: Has come in for criticism

Steve McClaren has told Moussa Sissoko he can secure a move to a Champions League club if he continues his fine form for Newcastle United.

France midfielder Sissoko, whose future at the club has often been under the spotlight, had a hand in four of United’s goals in Sunday’s 6-2 demolition of Norwich City.

After a disappointing start to the season, Sissoko’s performance against the Canaries was easily the player’s best of the season – and McClaren urged him to keep up his momentum and help secure the dream move to the Champions League he is obviously craving.

“Moussa showed what he can do,” McClaren said. “He wants to be a top-four player and he certainly can be if he keeps playing like that.

“We have told him to keep running. ”

Who scored the best goal in the Premier League this weekend?

  • Ander Herrera v Everton
  • Raheem Sterling (2nd) v Bournemouth
  • Dimitri Payet v Crystal Palace
  • Alexis Sanchez v Watford
  • Nathan Redmond v Newcastle
  • Aleksander Mitrovic v Norwich

What do you think of McClaren’s words? Should he telling players they can secure moves elsewhere by playing well? Or is it just the boss being realistic? Join the debate on the Newcastle United Your Say forum here.
