Six to make Oxford exits

Skipper Wright pens a fresh two-year deal with Michael Appleton’s side while Danny Rose and Max Crocombe have also put pen to paper on extended contracts with the U’s.

Joe Skarz agreed a three-year extension last week while talks are ongoing with goalkeeper Jamie Ashdown as well as Andy Whing who would take up a non-playing role.

But Jon Meades, Will Hoskins, John Campbell, Josh Shama, Matt Bevans and Jeremy Balmy have been told there is no future for them at the Kassam.

Appleton told the club’s official website: “Jake is a really good player as well as being a natural leader, on and off the pitch. People maybe don’t see what an important role he plays behind the scenes but he has the respect of everyone at the club as well as the players around him and we are very happy that he has committed his future here.

“Danny Rose has shown a fantastic attitude and gives us options in midfield, and Max impressed everyone during his loan at Nuneaton this season.

“We would also like to thank all of the lads who have been released for their hard work and efforts and wish them well for the future.”
