Slovenia v England preview

Roy Hodgson’s team have won all five of their qualifying games so far, but there will be pressure to put on a performance after a lacklustre 0-0 draw with the Republic of Ireland in their most recent friendly.

Joe Hart was keen to point out that England have a responsibility to get results and not simply entertain and victory in Ljubljana will edge England closer to a place in France next summer.

It could be worse though, Slovenia were beaten 1-0 by Qatar in their friendly leading into this game.

However, the hosts could still represent possibly England’s sternest test of the campaign and they are the only side that have managed to score against England in the group thus far.

England welcome back Fabian Delph for the game after the Aston Villa midfielder missed the draw in Dublin last weekend with a knock picked up in the FA Cup final but has declared himself fit to play on Sunday.
