Smith keen on Luton stay

Smith returned to the Luton line-up on Tuesday – having missed Saturday’s game after his wife went into labour – as they ground out a goalless draw against Dagenham.

It keeps Luton in the hunt for a play-off spot in League Two, and Smith, who signed from York in January 2013 for £50,000, is hoping he will be committing himself further in the near future.

Quoted on Dunstable Today, Smith said talks on an extension had “not quite” taken place, but added: “I love this club to bits.

“I know it’s easy to say that, but I really enjoy playing for Luton and I’d be very sad if I didn’t get to play any more.

“I’m playing for my future as well, my contract is up at the end of the season and I’ve got to prove to the club that they want to keep me.

“My aim was to get promotion and I’ll do everything I can to get that and hopefully that shows in the manner of my performances.”
