Southend v Mansfield preview

admin

Myles Weston will be back in Southend’s fold ahead of the visit of Mansfield to Roots Hall.

The midfielder missed the game at Bury last weekend, which was abandoned after six minutes anyway due to a waterlogged pitch, to represent Antigua but he returned to England this week.

Boss Phil Brown does not expect either Kevan Hurst (hamstring) or Luke Prosser (concussion) to return just yet despite the fact that both are training, while David Worrall will again miss out with the knock which kept him from featuring at the JD Stadium.

Striker Barry Corr has declared himself fully fit despite being involved in a car accident on the way to the Shakers game.

Reggie Lambe should return for Mansfield, who are looking to bounce back from back-to-back defeats.

The 24-year-old midfielder missed last weekend’s home defeat to York as he was away on international duty with Bermuda.

The Stags came through the 4-1 loss to the Minstermen without any new injuries and boss Adam Murray may make some changes after describing the performance as “shambolic”, “gutless” and “spineless”.

Winger Junior Brown is still suspended while Liam Hearn is making good progress in his recovery from a knee injury and the striker scored for the reserves against Scunthorpe in midweek.
