Baka the net

According to some papers the thinking is that Bakayoko will start against Spurs…?

Must admit that would surprise me as both players have been injured for a few weeks now so we would expect them not to be match fit and in the case of Bakayoko not even in tune with what is expected of him from Conte

However, after last week and with no further transfers imminent I could see at least both being on the bench and possibly Bakayoko starting if Conte feels he could be ready. Spurs are big and strong in the middle and Kante simply cannot handle them alone so as I said in a previous post I think the decision as to who partners him could be pivotal to us getting something out of the game

To us fans we are assuming that the game yesterday was the first time both players have been involved but they must have had a week or 2 of kicking a ball, training and I assume some kind of contact in training even if it was not full on. If that is the case, and these guys are naturally fit athletes, then possibly Conte feels he has more options and may be willing to take a gamble…?

Just think this midfield decision is crucial to the game in restricting the ability of Spurs to win and retain the ball and keeping us under constant pressure. Just hope that Conte gets it right and the players respond in the correct way. KTBFFH

CFC 1905

It would be a gamble to start Bakayoko v Spurs but if the medical department say he’s OK to start I can see why Conte would be tempted to start him even if he might not be able to go the 90 mins.

It’s great to even be able to be able to discuss the possible inclusion of these two players and a big step in the right direction for our season.

Nine nine nine

San the man

Liverpool need to hijack Tottenham’s deal for Davinson Sanchez. Spurs apparently are going to get Sanchez (on this list) for 42m. That’s a steal! Very good player, from what I’ve seen, commanding and great on one on ones which is exactly what we need! Of course VVD is needed by if he is out of reach why the over-obsession with VVD? Even more worrying why the trust in Lovren?

Mangala for city springs to mind, wasn’t he a beast that every man and his dog wanted? City paid crazy money for him and he flopped. I would take VVD over them all, he has been hands down the best CB in the Prem for 2 seasons and we only need to bring him into the side, no need to get use to the Prem for example. We don’t need another prospect, we have Gomez for that. I will be gutted if we don’t get him to be honest and can’t see anyone else that ticks the boxes without further risk.

Mixed feelings

Mixed feelings about Evans… I remember saying to a United fan the last time they won the league (pleasingly quite a while ago) that their first team wasn’t any better than ours, but their fringe squad players – and I named Evans as an example – were better than ours. He’s more authoritative than in those days, and has been very good at West Brom/for N Ireland. I think the 6-1 at Old Trafford isn’t a good way to judge him as we’d only scored one before his sending off, which Mario “bought”. For me, the questions revolve around how much we’d use him and whether he’s better (ability AND finance-wise) than the Mangala option. And I don’t know!

All I can say is forgetting Mangala for now, we have Denyer and Adi????? He isn’t better than them no chance and having a player who openly supports the swamp, noooooooo seriously not for me BIG time

Stop bowing, Juan

This thread seems to suggest that Mata is the only footballer who’s ever given to charity (and should ‘take a bow, son’). That just isn’t the case but most footballers (and, indeed, most celebs) don’t feel the need to announce it to the world when they give money away, whether for altruistic reasons or not.

And it’s hardly the worthiest of causes, is it? How about donating to a hospital? Or getting some food to families who don’t know where their next meal is coming from? Don’t get me wrong, it’s good that he’s giving to any charity and, for all any of us know, he gives away a lot more that we don’t know about, but lets not go overboard about him giving away money he can very easily afford to give away. He could give away 90% of his salary and still live more comfortably than most.

Again, not saying he doesn’t do more that we don’t know about but I’d wager that most people who give to charity, even if it’s not quite 1% of their salaries, feel a much bigger impact on their own finances from doing so than Juan will from his. He’ll still be able to buy himself a new Ferrari when he gets bored with the current one.

The title of the thread was just a bit overboard and the apparent assumption that only those who announce they’re giving money away, actually are, is a false one.

A Shaw thing

All noises coming out of the Shaw camp are the right ones at the moment, he know’s its his last chance this season. He was even quoted as saying “I don’t know what was going through my mind last season but i must remember who i’m playing for and give my all in training and every game” or words to that effect.

Apparently he’s close to a return from injury as well so i would expect to see him feature in the next couple of weeks. If he can get his head down and work hard then i think he’ll make it. It would solve a huge hole in the team at the moment because there’s probably only 3 places up for grabs in the whole team and left back is the most serious issue. After all Phil Jones is doing a wonderful job alongside Bailly!

I think he’ll play 25 games and then next season he’ll play every game…

happy hurling

I hope you’re right hippyhurling but I fear you’re wrong.

I’d give the young kid Dimitri Mitchell a shot at making the breakthrough, I’d certainly rather see him there than bloody Darmian. Apparently Mourinho turned down several offers of a loan move for him so surely he must rate him. Scored a belter for the under 23s this week too.

Holding his place?

I have a feeling Wenger will just swap Holding for Merts but I wouldn’t like to see Monreal and Kolasinac at CB together again. Some difficult decisions but I would like to see Kolasinac at LWB and with the Ox in such good form I’d mov him to RWB also I’d like Iwobi to start. My team 3421:

Holding, Mert, Monreal
Ox, Xhaka, Ramsey, Kolasinac
Iwobi, Welbeck
