Reported Tottenham and Newcastle United target Michy Batshuayi has signed a contract extension with Marseille, keeping him at the French club until 2020.
Spurs have been monitoring the striker for some time but failed to act on their interest when he moved from Standard Leige to Marseille in 2014, while Newcastle have also had the 22-year-old watched on several occasions.
Batshauyi’s new four-and-a-half-year contract is likely to send his valuation soaring over £30million, which would mean Newcastle almost doubling their transfer record to land the Belgium international.
They remain in the market for a new forward, however, while Spurs are also said to be keen to bring in a striker in the January transfer window as back-up for Harry Kane, who has hit 13 goals this season.
Batshauyi, who has scored 14 goals in 25 appearances for Marseille this season, was joined by Benjamin Mendy in putting pen to paper on a contract extension.
