Star set for extended Man Utd stay after winning over Mourinho

Luke Shaw’s Manchester United future looks to be secure after he reportedly won over Jose Mourinho with his form this season.

The England left-back has endured a troubled spell under Mourinho and was publically criticised by the United chief over his fitness after having a foot operation last spring.

However, the 22-year-old has knuckled down and has been sharing left-back duties with Ashley Young, leaving the likes of Daley Blind and Matteo Darmian out in the cold at times.

He won his first Premier League start of the season in December and has not looked back since after Mourinho claimed that the former Southampton man had finally learnt how to play the position properly.

Shaw’s current £80,000-a-week contract still has 18 months remaining after the club took up the option of a further year taking him through to the summer of 2019.

However, he is in line for a new, improved deal if he carries on his fine form until the end of the season.
