Alexis Sanchez: No regrets about leaving Barcelona for Arsenal

Alexis Sanchez: No regrets about leaving Barcelona for Arsenal

In a new column, Dave Tindall picks out the likely goalscorers this weekend, with Jamie Vardy, Alexis Sanchez and Nick Blackman among them.

Premier League Top Scorers

9 Jamie Vardy (Leicester) Last 6 in all comps: 2-1-2-1-1-1 = 8

6 Sergio Aguero (Manchester City) Last 6 games: 5-1-0-1-0-0 = 7

6 Alexis Sanchez (Arsenal) Last 6 games: 0-1-2-1-3-0 = 7

6 Georginio Wijnaldum (Newcastle United) Last 6 games: 4-0-1-0-0-0 = 5

Analysis: England may have been a step too far, but Jamie Vardy simply cannot scoring for Leicester. He’s netted in each of his last six games for the Foxes so is worth backing at 8/5 anytime with Bet Victor for the home game against Crystal Palace. Alexis Sanchez has seven goals in his last five games so should be backed to continue that streak at home to Everton. Georginio Wijnaldum plundered four against Norwich, but he’s yet to score a goal away from home for the Mapgies. He’ll find the going much harder against a Sunderland side likely to be more miserly under Sam Allardyce.

Best bets:

Jamie Vardy to score anytime v Crystal Palace at 8/5 (Bet Victor)
Alexis Sanchez to score anytime v Everton at 13/10 (Bet365)

Championship Top Scorers

9 Nick Blackman (Reading) Last 6 games: 1-1-1-1-1-1 = 6

7 Charlie Austin (Queens Park Rangers) Last 6 games: 0-1-1-1-0-2 = 5

7 Chris Martin (Derby County) Last 6 games: 0-2-1-1-0-0 = 4

7 Jordan Rhodes (Blackburn Rovers) Last 6 games: 0-0-2-1-2-1 = 6

Analysis: Nick Blackman has netted in nine of his last 10 games for Reading and has bagged six in five on the road. Therefore he looks a crazy price at 5/2 with Paddy Power to score anytime at Fulham. Only five teams have shipped more home goals than the Cottagers. Charlie Austin is injured while Chris Martin has only scored in one Derby away match this season so doesn’t appeal for the trip to Huddersfield. Jordan Rhodes hasn’t netted in his last two starts.

Best bet:

Nick Blackman to score anytime v Fulham at 5/2 (Paddy Power)

League One Top Scorers

8 Adam Armstrong (Coventry City) Last 6 games: 0-0-2-0-1-0 = 3

7 Leon Clarke (Bury) Last 6 games: 0-0-0-1-1-2 = 4

7 Paddy Madden (Scunthorpe United) Last 6 games: 0-1-1-1-0-0 = 3

7 Billy Sharp (Sheffield United) Last 6 games: 1-0-0-0-0-1 = 2

7 Peter Vincenti (Rochdale) Last 6 games: 0-1-0-1-1-1 = 4

Analysis: The division’s leading marksmen have rather cooled off in recent weeks, but Peter Vincenti is worth a look at 17/10 with Rochdale hosting Oldham. Vincenti has netted in four of his last five home games so usually sends the locals home with a goal.

Best bet:

Peter Vicenti to score anytime v Oldham at 17/10 (Paddy Power)

League Two Top Scorers

11 Jay Simpson (Leyton Orient) Last 6 games: 1-1-2-1-0-0 = 5

8 Jabo Ibehre (Carlisle) Last 6 games: 0-0-0-1-0-0 = 1

7 Barry Corr (Cambridge United) Last 6 games: 0-1-0-1-0-1 = 3

6 Reuben Reid (Plymouth) Last 6 games: 1-2-0-1-0-0 = 4

Analysis: The goals had dried up for Jabo Ibehre before he got injured, but Barry Corr is an option at 17/10 away to a Yeovil side who have conceded nearly two a game at home. At Plymouth, Reuben Reid and Jake Jervis have both scored six this season, but Reid has four in four while Jervis has drawn five blanks in a row. Argyle face a solid Luton defence so the bet here has to be Jay Simpson. He’s blasted five in four games and overall has netted in 10 of Orient’s 15 games in all comps. On those numbers he should be odds-on; instead we can get 7/5.

Best bet:

Jay Simpson to score anytime v Morecambe at 7/5 (Coral)

Best-priced goalscorer acca (one from each division):
