Daniel Sturridge: Liverpool striker back in training

Daniel Sturridge could be in line to feature in Liverpool’s next game against Manchester City – but Mamadou Sakho is out for at least six weeks.

Sturridge has made only three appearances for Liverpool in the Premier League so far this season and has so far been denied a first taste of action under Jurgen Klopp by a knee injury he sustained just prior to the German’s first game in charge against Tottenham.

However, the England forward has now trained outdoors for the first time in a month, raising hopes he could be involved against City after the international break.

While Sturridge could soon return, the news is not so good on Sakho, who is unlikely to play again this year after scans confirmed he suffered knee ligament damage in the 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace last weekend.

Although there is no anterior ligament tear, the France defender faces six to eight weeks on the sidelines.
