Sam Allardyce: Confirmed as England boss

Sunderland are hoping to add a loan signing to their squad on deadline day after Sam Allardyce recruited five players during January.

Wahbi Khazri became the Black Cats’ latest signing over the weekend when he joined from Bordeaux, adding to the arrivals of Lamine Kone, Jan Kirchhoff, Steve Harper and Dame N’Doye.

Allardyce is still keen to add a right-back, with Mathieu Debuchy linked but the Arsenal defender is said to have a number of options.

Sunderland have been linked with a move for Aston Villa skipper Micah Richards, but the Villans would not sell to a rival in the relegation fight.

Allardyce’s interest in Andre Ayew is said to have been shelved following the purchase of Khazri.

Jordi Gomez, Valentin Roberge and Adam Matthews could be heading out of the Stadium of Light exit but reports that Steven Fletcher was heading to Marseille are said to be wide of the mark.
