TEAMtalk backed Leeds United badge design gets a revamp
It’s safe to say our campaign to back the new Leeds badge endured something of a mixed response on social media – so we’ve given the prototype a revamp.
The club, which celebrates its centenary in 2019, caused outrage last month when they launched what they thought would be their latest crest.
However, the new design drew widespread criticism – with numerous memes and GIFs created taking the mickey -while an online petition collected 80,000 signatures in a matter of 24 hours.
That spurred the club to abandon plans to use the crest, pictured above, and they decided instead to invite supporters to create their own design.
There’s been a flood of brilliant entries sent it to the club and circulated on social media, but we have been sent what we feel ought to be the winning design.
While our first design – created by local artist and Leeds fan Wayne Lee – didn’t go down too well on social media – the image has been given a redesign by James Howson, a TEAMtalk reader and fellow Whites supporter.
James has given Wayne’s original design a much-need lick of paint – and between them have submitted the final design to the club.
The pair now hope their entry will be shortlisted by the club as they look to create a new design for next season’s centenary kit.
Take a look at the TEAMtalk-backed campaign – and once again, don’t be afraid to let us know what you think….
And whatever happens, at least remember it’s better than the original design the club came up with…
