UFC star turned boxer Conor McGregor was the most tweeted about sports star of 2017 – but three Manchester United players took their place in the top 10.
Irish MMA sensation McGregor topped the list after his record-breaking boxing match with Floyd Mayweather Jnr in August.
Unsurprisingly, Mayweather came fifth on the list following his participation in the richest boxing bout in history – and the duo sandwiched Manchester United trio Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku and Jose Mourinho, who were second, third and fourth on the list, respectively.
Wayne Rooney is sixth on the list following a year in which saw his retirement from England duty and his return to boyhood club Everton from Manchester United, while it perhaps comes as a shock to see Neymar as low down as seventh on the list following his world-record move to PSG from Real Madrid.
Cristiano Ronaldo finished eighth, while Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho and Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger complete the list of names which for the first time since the list was compiled, sees Lionel Messi fail to make the top 10.
