Torquay will be without the influential pairing of Rene Howe and Billy Bodin.
Striker Howe was sent off for the second time this season during the 3-1 defeat at Accrington last weekend and serves the first game of a four-match ban while on-loan wide man Bodin has been barred from playing by his parent club.
However, manager Martin Ling will be buoyed by the return of midfielder Lee Mansell to the matchday squad after a one-game suspension.
Mansell will resume captaincy duties and is likely to replace Ian Morris in the starting line-up.
Defender Brian Saah is close to a return following a groin injury but is unlikely to be included as Ling’s men look to bounce back from their first defeat in seven matches against Accrington.
Swindon have no new injury or suspension worries.
Defender Joe Devera is close to a comeback after an ankle ligament problem and played 45 minutes in the Samsung Win A Pro Contract match at the County Ground in midweek but is unlikely to feature.
Striker Alan Connell, however, could play a part against the Gulls after shaking off a hamstring niggle.
The former Grimsby frontman picked up the injury during the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Southern Section area semi-final victory over Southend on December 6 but has been involved in full training for the last three days and is set to travel to Devon.
