Manchester United have reportedly knocked back an approach made by Tottenham for France striker Anthony Martial.
The 21-year-old has struggled to find a consistent level of performance since making his initial impact at Old Trafford and has been spoken of as a possible makeweight in any deal for Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic.
That news seems to have alerted Spurs that Martial could be available and a bid was made but rejected straight away, according to RMC Sport.
Despite failing to convince Jose Mourinho that he is worth a regular starting spot, Martial remains a key member of United’s first-team squad and does appear to have a future at the club.
The forward, who has scored 15 goals in 56 Premier League appearances for United, has been good touch in pre-season and will hope to carry that into the new campaign.
