Manchester United have been told they have to pay £50million if they want to sign Spurs midfielder Eric Dier, a report claims.
The Telegraph state that Jose Mourinho sees the England international as the long-term replacement for Michael Carrick.
According to the report, Mourinho wants the Spurs man signed before the start of next season, but he will have to pay £50m to secure the 23-year-old.
Carrick has been given another one-year extension to keep him at Old Trafford until the summer of 2018.
Dier was reminded by Pochettino in March that it was Spurs who “provided all the tools” for him “to be a Premier League player”.
The former Sporting man signed a new deal last September believed to be worth £70k-a-week, and according to the report he can expect to negotiate a new deal next season.
However, in order to command £150,000-a-week plus, he may have to move clubs. Mourinho is also reportedly willing to play Dier in his preferred central midfield role, rather than at centre-back.
