Tottenham target Carles Alena has penned a new three-year deal at Barcelona, reportedly containing a buyout clause worth £66million.
The 19-year-old central midfielder has been on Spurs’ radar for some time but has handed Mauricio Pochettino a blow by opting to remain at the Nou Camp.
The Spain Under-19s skipper has come through the ranks at Barca, attracting plenty of interest with his eyecatching performances at youth levels, and the La Liga giants are delighted to cement his future.
“Barcelona and Carles Alena have reached a contract agreement that will see the youngster sign on for the next three years,” a statement read.
“If Alena joins the first team then the deal will be extended by a further two years, and his release clause will reach €75m.”
