Tottenham v Liverpool ratings: Son is shining; Lovren’s all-time low

Tottenham put on an attacking performance to blow away Liverpool 4-1 at Wembley on Sunday. Here are our player ratings:

Tottenham

Hugo Lloris: One incredible save to tip a Coutinho shot onto the crossbar and denied Salah with his legs inside the last 15 minutes. 8

Toby Alderweireld: Another dominant performance alongside Sanchez and Vertonghen. 7

Davinson Sanchez: Strong performance at the back and comfortable with the ball at his feet. 7

Jan Vertonghen: Solid as usual and put in a number of good tackles. 7

Kieran Trippier: Got forward really well and put in a number of crosses. 7

Serge Aurier: Struggled to deal with Mohamed Salah in the first half. Decent going forward. 6.5

Christian Eriksen: Good set piece delivery and usual effective pin-point passing. One of his quieter matches. 7.5

Harry Winks: Helped keep Spurs ticking over and injected urgency in their play. 8

Dele Alli: Scored a well-executed volley to punish Liverpool just before half-time. Showed off his array of tricks. 8.5

Son Heung-min: Expertly finished off a wonderful pass from Kane for 2-0. A real livewire. 8

Harry Kane: Another masterpiece in clinical finishing from the England international. Involved in a lot of dangerous attacks and got the assist for Son’s goal. 9

Substitutes

Moussa Sissoko (replaced Son 69′) Slotted in well and got up to speed with the match. 6

Eric Dier (replaced Eriksen 81′) Shored up Spurs to see out the match comfortably. No major contributions. 5

Fernando Llorente (replaced Kane 88′) No time to get into the match. 5

Liverpool

Simon Mignolet: Slightly at fault for Kane’s opener as he came out too rashly and was punished. Flapped at the ball in the lead up to Tottenham’s fourth. 5

Joe Gomez: Not directly at fault for Tottenham’s goals but too easily beaten by their attackers. 6

Joel Matip: Partly culpable for the first goal and his poor header lead to Tottenham’s third. 4

Dejan Lovren: Disastrous performance. Taken off after only half an hour after being at fault for both of Tottenham’s early goals. 3

Alberto Moreno: Caught out of position on a number of occasions after pushing too far forward. 6

James Milner: Put in a number of strong tackles. Traveled forward well with the ball. 6

Jordan Henderson: Played a wonderful ball through to Salah to score in the first half. 6.5

Emre Can: His passing sometimes left a lot to be desired and struggled to control the midfield. 5.5

Philippe Coutinho: Not allowed to get on the ball by Tottenham. Fantastic shot in the second half was brilliantly saved by Lloris. 6.5

Roberto Firmino: Never got into the match. Made a good clearance off the goal line but Kane converted the rebound. 6

Mohamed Salah: He caused Aurier a lot of problems in the first half but went quiet in the second. 7

Substitutes

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (replaced Lovren 31′) Looked good when he came on in the first half but fell away after half-time. 6

Daniel Sturridge (replaced Firmino 77′) Never got up to speed with the match. 5
