Jon Stead put the Tractor Boys in front after 30 seconds and on-loan Jack Colback doubled the advantage on the stroke of half-time after racing clear of the visitors’ defence.

Ian Evatt pulled one back for the visitors in the second half with a fine header into the top corner but Gareth McAuley secured the points for Ipswich with a herder of his own on 71 minutes before Blackpool were reduced to 10 men when David Vaughan received his second booking.

The victory sees Ipswich climb out of the relegation zone into 20th place while the Seasiders drop out of the play-off places into seventh.
