Tyson earns Doncaster extension

Tyson, who joined Rovers on an initial one-year deal at the end of last season, has made 40 appearances for Paul Dickov’s side during the current campaign – scoring 10 goals.

The 32-year-old recently went on record as saying he had “rediscovered his love for football” at the Keepmoat Stadium, following loan spells with Notts County and Fleetwood.

Tyson’s contract situation is one less for Dickov to worry about but the Scot still faces a busy summer of renegotiating.

Stephen Bywater, Reece Wabara, Rob Jones, Jamie McCombe, Abdul Razak, Dean Furman, Kyle Bennett and Theo Robinson are all out of contract in June.

Young prospects Paul McKay, Jack McKay and Liam Mandeville are also out of contract this summer.

“We know what we want to do and the players we want to keep,” said Dickov. “Once I’ve sat down with the board and finalised everything, we’ll be making offers.

“I think the players have a rough idea of who I want to keep and who I don’t through the brief conversations I’ve had with them. We want to keep our best players.”
