UEFA have fined Liverpool £8,400 after their fans let off fireworks in their Europa League quarter-final against Borussia Dortmund.

The decision was made by the control, ethics and disciplinary body and is the second punishment handed out to the Reds this week.

On Tuesday they were fined £35,000 – half of which was suspended for a two-year probationary period – for illicit chanting by supporters during April’s two-legged Europa League clash against Manchester United, who were also hit with a similar penalty.

There was a further fine of £13,000 for the offences of setting off of fireworks, throwing of objects, crowd disturbances and a late kick-off.

Liverpool still have disciplinary charges outstanding in relation to more fireworks offences and crowd disturbances relating to last week’s Europa League final against Sevilla.
