A blunder on UEFA’s website suggests Manchester City have completed the signing of Everton defender John Stones.
Despite neither of the two clubs having announced the deal, England international Stones is already listed as a member of Pep Guardiola’s squad on UEFA’s Champions League website.

A UEFA spokesperson has confirmed that the 21-man list published on their official website was the complete list that they received from the club.
“He was in the squad list we received from Manchester City,” read a statement on their website. “The deadline was yesterday and the player was in the squad.
“He has been registered to play [for City]. We are double-checking now as we have had a lot calls about this.”
Stones will be a much-needed addition to Guardiola’s defence, as City captain Vincent Kompany will miss the start of the season through injury, while Nicolas Otamendi and Eliaquim Managala have failed to convince in the Premier Leaugue, with Mangala understood to be available to leave the club.
