Cristiano Ronaldo’s agent has told Manchester United and PSG to forget about signing the player, after he insisted he will end his career at Real Madrid.
United boss Louis Van Gaal floated the idea about re-signing Ronaldo at the weekend when he admitted his liking for the Portuguese superstar.
But on Monday night the superstar’s agent Jorge Mendes insisted his client would “end his career at Real Madrid”.
Speaking in Portuguese on French TV show “Canal Football Club,” Mendes was adamant that his client would not be moving to either Paris or Manchester next season.
“It’s impossible,” Mendes said. “He will end his career at Real Madrid.”
Mendes’ claim that Ronaldo wants to end his career at Real Madrid has led the Daily Mirror to suggest that Rafael Benitez will only be granted a short stay of execution at the Bernabeu after the club on Monday evening assured him his job was safe.
It’s been suggested that Ronaldo is not a fan of Benitez’s methods and is unhappy at the club, where the team was jeered from the field following Saturday’s 4-0 home defeat to Barcelona in El Clasico.
According to the Mirror, it will only be a temporary reprieve for the former Liverpool boss, with Perez already accepting Benitez has lost the faith of players like Ronaldo, James Rodriguez and skipper Sergio Ramos.
Mendes, however, feels that the man who has won back-to-back Ballon d’Or awards is still the finest player in world football.
“He is like a son for me,” Mendes added. “I met him at 15 years old. He was really the best and he is, at the moment, the best player in the world – and the best ever for sure.”
