Real Madrid are reportedly willing to offload central defender Raphael Varane, and Manchester United are a potential suitor for the player.
According to The Sun, the European champions have decided that they will “listen to offers” for the Frenchman.
New Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho is understood to be keen on bringing in Varane, and he has been given a boost as Zidane seemingly has his centre-back duo already establish in Pepe and Sergio Ramos.
However, the Portuguese boss will face competition, as Le Parisien state that Carlo Ancelotti is keen on bringing the 23-year-old to Bayern Munich.
The report claims that Ancelotti, having worked with Varane for two years at Real, believes he is the “best young centre-back in Europe”.
Clubs targeting Varane were given a boost earlier in the month when the defender reflected on his current situation in the Spanish capital.
“After five years at Real Madrid, I hope I am able to overcome any kind of obstacle” he told L’Equipe.
“I feel I’m at a turning point. I think all players need to feel as though they are developing – it’s important to feel you are making progress and that’s something I aim to do every day. I am aware of what qualities I have and what I am capable of.”
