Nick Powell: Rare taste of first-team action against Wolfsburg

Nick Powell is reportedly on the brink of ending three-and-a-half years of torment at Manchester United by making a loan move to Hull, before leaving on a free this summer.

The midfielder, who joined the club in the summer of 2012, has found opportunities in the United first-team hard to come by and has made only two appearances this term – including the Champions League clash against Wolfsburg, which saw the club eliminated from competition at the group stages.

In three-and-a-half years at the club he has only turned out nine times for the Red Devils.

And, according to reports on Friday, the player is set to make a loan move to Hull – managed by former United defender Steve Bruce – until the end of the season.

Powell, who cost United £4million and is out of contract at Old Trafford in the summer, will then be released on a free, bringing to an end a frustrating spell at the club for the former Crewe star.

In total, his nine appearances for United will have cost the club approximately £444,000 per match.
