Jose Mourinho should sign “winner” Alexis Sanchez, according to Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs.
Giggs has urged Jose Mourinho to raid Arsenal for the Chilean just as they did for Robin van Persie in August 2012.
Van Persie cost United £24million and was a huge hit at Old Trafford and Giggs believes Sanchez’s work-rate and attitude would rub off on the rest of the squad.
“[He’s] a brilliant player. His work rate, the effect he has on his team-mates, a winner,” said Giggs.
“He just looks how South Americans are, tough aren’t they.
“Yeah. Jose Mourinho bought [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic because he is a winner.
“He’d won everywhere he’d gone. Not only the effect on the pitch but off the pitch as well.
“You can just feel that Sanchez would give his team-mates a lift.”
Antoine Griezmann, Andrea Belotti and Alvaro Morata have all been linked with a move to United as Mourinho looks to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic and potentially Wayne Rooney too. a
Sanchez – who has just a year left on his contract at Arsenal – is believed to be pondering a move away from the Gunners, who look likely to miss out on Champions League football.
The 28-year-old has scored 26 goals in 48 games this season, whilst also contributing 19 assists and he will command a fee of in excess of £50million if he moves one.
He recently said he was “disappointed” and hinted it may be time to move on.
“I came here to win trophies – to compete in the Champions League semi-finals and to win the Premier League.
“I feel disappointed we aren’t in a position to win the Premier League or the Champions League. We do have the FA Cup final against Chelsea coming up and we’ll give it our all to try to win it,” said Sanchez earlier this month.
He is believed to be happy with London life and reports suggested he would prefer a move to champions Chelsea to enable him to fulfil his ambitions.
