Bastian Schweinsteiger: Set to be offloaded

Bastian Schweinsteiger’s Manchester United career is reportedly set to be cut short with Besiktas ready to offer the German a way out.

According to Turkish media outlet Millyet, Besiktas boss Senol Gunes is a big fan of the 31-year-old German, who is set to become even more surplus to requirements once Paul Pogba’s world-record deal from Juventus eventually goes through.

Schweinsteiger’s continuing struggles with injury have proved to be his downfall and he is thought to be top of Jose Mourinho’s list alongside Juan Mata to move on to new clubs ahead of the new season.

Manchester United shelled out £6.5m last summer for the World Cup winner, but are ready to cut their losses just 18 league appearances and one goal later.

Schweinsteiger showed he was working hard to prove his fitness with his latest Instagram post, yet it may prove to be too late for Mourinho to perform a U-turn on his United future.
