Uwe Rosler ‘not stressing’

Rosler made his biggest signing at Leeds this week with the arrival of striker Chris Wood and has drafted in three other players during the close season – defender Sol Bamba, forward Lee Erwin and goalkeeper Charlie Horton.

“We are not stressing,” Rosler said after welcoming Wood to pre-season training at Thorp Arch.

“First it was important to get that focal point and that physical striker that we were looking for and yes, there are certain areas in the team to which we’d like to add.

“We would like to add a little bit of pace to the team, but we are not stressing and we’ll see what is available on our budget.”

Rosler said he had been “very impressed” by the players he has inherited during their first week of pre-season training.

“They’ve responded very well,” he said. “They’re improving day by day and we’re looking forward to continuing the work with a good group of players.”

One player to have caught Rosler’s eye is Nicky Ajose, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Crewe.

Rosler added: “Everyone has a chance. I mention Nicky Ajose, who turned up here and ran everybody into the ground.

“He’s very well prepared in pre-season and if he can bring that on to the pitch in the practice games, the boy has a chance.”
