Marouane Fellaini: Manchester United could sell midfielder

Louis van Gaal has blocked Marouane Fellaini’s loan escape from Manchester United, according to reports in Italy.

Italian paper Corriere della Serra claim AC Milan want a loan deal for the Belgium international, who has made just four starts in the Premier League this season.

Fellaini, 28, a £27.5m signing from Everton in August 2013, has struggled get a run of games under Van Gaal, but the Dutch boss is believed to have halted any potential move to Serie A.

The former Everton man, who last month claimed the United players have “total trust”in Van Gaal, has scored just twice this season in 18 appearances in all competitions, but Van Gaal is reluctant to let him leave.

Milan were hoping to take the imposing midfielder on loan this month, with a view to a making the deal permanent at a knockdown price in the summer.

Belgium coach Marc Wilmots last month admitted to being “annoyed” by international players who do not play regularly for their club sides and with Euro 2016 on the horizon Fellaini may well have taken the hint and tried to engineer a move away from Old Trafford.
