Louis van Gaal: Says age is not important for Marcus Rashford

Louis van Gaal insists Manchester United can still fight for the Premier League title after insisting: “The competition is still not finished for us.”

United travel to face Chelsea in Sunday’s televised game at 4pm and the United boss, fresh from watching his men put in their best display of the season against Stoke in midweek, feels they can still battle for the Premier League crown.

“The competition is still not finished,” the Dutchman told a press conference on Friday afternoon.

“It is not finished for Manchester United and not for other teams.”

United are 10 points behind leaders Leicester going into the weekend’s fixtures, but with the Foxes away at title rivals Manchester City, Van Gaal believes this could be a pivotal weekend.

“I feel that if we beat Chelsea – and that is not simple – our league [challenge] shall start again.

“That’s important.”

Van Gaal believes United squad will be boosted by the return of a number of key players, adding: “Now the players are coming back and they are fit again so I can continue how I have started the season this season.”
