Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has labelled speculation over Louis van Gaal’s Manchester United future as “disrespectful” to the Dutchman.
Speculation over Van Gaal’s position at Old Trafford continues to mount, with the ex-Ajax and Holland coach under pressure after six games without a win.
Jose Mourinho, sacked by Chelsea last week, has distanced himself from speculation suggesting he’s set to take charge at Old Trafford.
But Wenger believes Van Gaal should be handed more time to turn things around and says the Dutchman has proven himself over a long, distinguished career.
“I personally have huge respect for Louis van Gaal and I think what is going on there is disrespectful,” Wenger said in his press conference to preview the Boxing Day trip to Southampton.
“This guy has worked in football for 30 years and has delivered an unbelievable quality of work.”
