Jamie Vardy: Leicester City striker to undergo operation

Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy is set to undergo a minor groin operation which will keep him out for up to two weeks.

Leicester have timed the operation so that Vardy only misses their FA Cup tie against Tottenham on Sunday but should be available again for the Premier League game against the same opponents the week after.

The England international has netted 15 Premier League goals this season, including a record run of scoring in 11 consecutive games, although he has just one in his last six.

Leicester’s form has dipped slightly too, failing to score in a run of three games that has yielded two points.
