Jan Vertonghen has told Tottenham’s Premier League rivals to keep spending because it “makes it so much better when you beat them.”
Tottenham are the only Premier League club yet to sign a single player this summer, and are set to miss out on main target Juan Foyth to PSG.
While the north London club negotiate with potential targets, each of their main rivals for the title have strengthened.
Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and both Manchester clubs have signed at least two first-team players each, while even Everton have looked to close the gap on the top six.
Vertonghen is not fearful however, and instead hopes they continue to spend.
“With their spending, a lot of pressure comes on teams,” he said. “You’ve seen how much money has been spent in the window and there’s a month still to go, it’s crazy.
“There are four, five teams maybe who have to become champions now and that will put great pressure on them and that makes the Premier League the best in the world to watch.
“It’s a great thing to play in. I’m happy everyone has strengthened their teams because that makes it so much better when you beat them.”
