Mauricio Pochettino: Linked with Argentina role

Mauricio Pochettino has revealed he is not surprised to be linked with the Argentina job, but has no intention of leaving Tottenham.

The 43-year-old, who penned a new five-year deal with Spurs in May, is said to be on a three-man shortlist alongside Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone and new Sevilla manager Jorge Sampaoli.

However, Pochettino is currently focused on his job at Tottenham and has no desire to replace Gerardo Martino, who left following Argentina’s Copa America final defeat against Chile.

“I think the speculation is normal because I am an Argentinian coach at a top club in England,” Pochettino said at press conference.

“There are a lot of rumours that appear in the media but I am very happy at Tottenham and so for that reason this is not the right moment.”

Pochettino made 20 appearances and scored three times for Argentina during his playing career and guided Spurs to their highest-ever Premier League finish last season.
