Steve McClaren: Sacked by Derby

Former England coach Steve McClaren was left with egg on his face as Iceland scored their winner against the Three Lions. Watch the clip here.

McClaren, whose England reign will best be remembered for the failure to qualify for Euro 2008 with a defeat at home to Croatia, was providing the analysis in the Sky Sports studio as the Three Lions crashed out with an embarrassing 2-1 defeat to Iceland on Monday.

McClaren was in the process of talking up England’s ‘dominance and movement’ against their opponents when he was stunned into silence as Iceland netted an excellent winner.

England had led 1-0 early on through Wayne Rooney’s penalty before goals from Ragnar Sigurdsson before Kolbeinn Sigthorsson turned the clash on its head and allowed the 250/1 long-shots to set up a last eight meeting with France on Sunday.

The inquest into England’s exit has already started – but for now you can at least enjoy some light relief through McClaren’s commentary and observations.
