Jack Wilshere: Arsenal midfielder defended by Arsene Wenger

Jack Wilshere’s initiation at Arsenal was to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to Gael Clichy, the on-loan Gunners midfielder has revealed.

And the midfielder, currently on loan at Bournemouth, reckons he’s a good singer. But his team-mates don’t always appreciate his voice, he revealed in an exclusive video for Footballers Lives.

“I can’t play any instruments. I like to think I’m not a bad singer but apart from that I’ve not got much.

“I sang Stand By Me when we won the FA Cup. Didn’t go down great but I thought I was all right.”

Did he have an initiation at Bournemouth at the start of the 2016-17 season?

“No there was none of that at Bournemouth, ” he said. “I did it years ago at Arsenal when I was 16 – but I got away with singing Happy Birthday to Gael Clichy, so it wasn’t that bad…”
