Watford manager Quique Sanchez Flores praised the performance of his players after his team’s 2-1 victory over Newcastle at Vicarage Road.
Odion Ighalo and Craig Cathcart put Watford 2-0 up at Vicarage Road before Newcastle pulled one back through Jamaal Lascelles. However, the visitors couldn’t get a second and Watford earned all three points.
The Hornets’ victory ended a four-match losing run in the league and Sanchez Flores was delighted to return to winning ways.
“I am really, really happy with the victory and the performance of the players,” said Flores, whose side moved up to 10th in the table.
“We came off a very bad run, and in terms of the feelings, it is difficult to convince the players it is just a bad run. I know how it works with the mentality of the players – they are a little bit down – so for us today it was very important.
“We are in the top half so we have a lot of reasons to be happy and we have to enjoy it. The target is the same – to survive in the category.”
