Emmanuel Adebayor: Could make Eagles debut from bench on Saturday

Watford are reported to have pulled out of the race to sign Emmanuel Adebayor, leaving Crystal Palace in pole position to sign the striker.

Adebayor, without a club since being released by Tottenham in September, has been linked with linked with several Premier League clubs in recent months, including Chelsea.

Watford boss Quique Sanchez Flores had previously refused to rule out a move for the Togo international, but the London Evening Standard say the Spaniard has now decided the signing represents a risk not worth taking with the Hornets already on 29 points.

Palace are now favourites to sign Adebayor, it is said, but a deal still needs to be agreed with Spurs regarding what proportion of the 31-year-old’s £100,000-a-week wages, currently being paid in full by the north Londoners, they will contribute.

A  deal is not expected to be concluded until after the two sides play each other at Selhurst Park on Saturday, the newspaper adds.

According to The Sun, Crystal Palace are also battling it out with West Brom to sign Sweden striker Emir Kujovic, 27, from SIFK Norrkoping.
