Wayne Rooney is reportedly ready for a “£30million war” with current club Manchester United amid uncertainty over his future.
The 31-year-old has one year left on his deal, but there is a 12-month option included in his £300,000-a-week contract.
Rooney has been linked with a return to Everton this summer, while there is also reported interest from Stoke City, West Ham United and the Chinese Super League.
According to The Sun, Manchester United are willing to sell the England record goalscorer for £10million.
However, Rooney has other ideas, with the report claiming he is “not agitating for a move” and it is understood “he and his advisors intend to stand firm”.
The former Everton man could see his playing time decrease even further next season should United acquire one of the forward targets they have been linked with, such as Alvaro Morata.
Rooney and his team-mates will return to training on Saturday before they head out to Los Angeles ahead of their US tour.
