We took advantage of ‘very nervous’ Ostersunds – Wenger

Arsene Wenger thinks Arsenal took advantage of a nervous-looking Ostersunds side as they win 3-0 in the first leg of their last-32 Europa League tie.

Nacho Monreal and an own goal by Sotirios Papagiannopoulos put the Gunners two goals up inside the first 24 minutes before Mesut Ozil added another midway through the second half.

“We did the job well, controlled the ball against a good side,” Wenger told BT Sport. “They beat Hertha Berlin here, 2-2 against Athletic Bilbao, so a quality team. But once we scored the first goal we were in control.

“Overall we played a serious game, so job done. They looked very nervous and we took advantage of it.”

On his young players, Wenger added: “I think the young players in the team played well in group stages, so kept in squad and continue to try and give them minutes when I can.

When he was asked if he would be resting players for the second leg, Wenger continued: We’ll see if I rest players. Maybe but we want to win the game, it is important that we put out a team that can do that.
