Claudio Ranieri insists Leicester’s first priority this season is the 40-point survival target – but says he wants his players to “continue to dream”.
Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez once again did the damage for the Foxes as they returned to the top of the Premier League with a 2-1 victory over struggling Chelsea.
The pair struck either side of half-time to secure a sweet victory for Ranieri over his former club, who grabbed a late consolation through Loic Remy.
”We wanted to put on a fantastic performance for the fans because they are dreaming and we want them to continue to dream,” Ranieri said after the game.
”We concentrated for 95 minutes against the champions and this is not easy.
”We are top of the league but I want five more points. You laugh but I do. And I don’t know where these five points are going to come from. Everton, Liverpool, Manchester City, Bournemouth and Tottenham are all very tough games.
”Let me achieve 40 points and then I will look at the next goal.”
