Arsene Wenger: Concerned

Arsene Wenger has mocked Tottenham’s possible achievement in finishing above Arsenal, saying: “If it happens you can say it’s a one-off.”

Spurs, while still in the title race until Monday night’s 2-2 draw at Chelsea saw Leicester take the crown, could yet be overhauled by Arsenal and finish third in the Premier League table.

With two games of the season remaining, Spurs hold a three-point advantage over their rivals and while Wenger admits it would need some swing, he insists he isn’t ruling it out.

Speaking at Friday’s press conference, Wenger said: “We have not given up hope [of finishing higher than Spurs].

“We will fight until the end of the season.”

Wenger was then questioned about how he would feel if Arsenal finished behind Spurs and he replied: “If it happens you can say its a one-off. In 20 years, they’ll have done it twice.”

Wenger was then asked for his thoughts on Leicester’s title triumph, and said: “They had fantastic team spirit and were very efficient defensively.”

He then added: “It was a surprise.”
