Wenger at odds with scout over which Man Utd man to sign

Arsene Wenger and new head of scouting Sven Mislintat are at odds over a potential new Arsenal signing, according to a report.

With Arsenal in talks with Manchester United over a £25million move for Alexis Sanchez, United midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been touted as a potential replacement.

The Guardian’s initial report last week claimed Man Utd had offered the Armenia international to Arsenal as part of the Sanchez transfer, but Wenger is apparently not keen.

Daily Star journalist David Woods claims Mkhitaryan is not Wenger’s preferred Manchester United choice, but instead he’s wanted by Mislintat.

And Woods insists Wenger prefers the club to sign Anthony Martial instead.

“Re Alexis Sanchez proposed Man United move – Arsenal’s new head of scouting Sven Mislintat is keen for Henrikh Mkhitaryan to be part of the deal,” he tweeted.

“He took took him to Dortmund. Arsene Wenger wants Anthony Martial.”

France foward Martial was linked to Arsenal over the summer after a poor season under Jose Mourinho last term.

The 22-year-old has improved though this season, scoring nine goals in 30 appearances and it’s thought Mourinho would not want to lose him.
