Arsene Wenger declares Jack Wilshere “ready” to start in the Premier League when called upon as Arsenal thrashed BATE Borisov 6-0 in the Europa League on Thursday.
Goals from Mathieu Debuchy, Theo Walcott, Wilshere, Denis Polyakov (OG), Olivier Giroud and Mohamed Elneny rounded off a solid group stage campaign for the Gunners that saw them finish top and four points clear of Red Star Belgrade in second.
When asked about Wilshere and Debuchy’s performances, Wenger said: “Jack Wilshere is ready to start. For 70 minutes he was very strong. Debuchy is fit and ready to play.”

The Emirates Stadium was only half full as the fans failed to turn up in numbers for a dead rubber and Wenger told reporters: “In the Champions League there were grounds that were empty.
The Gunners lost to Manchester United 3-1 in one of the matches of the season over the weekend and Wenger is still struggling to get over the loss.
“Manchester United was a difficult defeat to take,” Wenger added. “All the numbers went for us but the result went against us. At the moment we have different worries than the title. Let’s just fight and win our next game.”
