Wenger responds to Hart rumours and discusses Wilshere future

Joe Hart: Heading for City exit

Arsene Wenger has played down reports that Arsenal are keen to sign Joe Hart this summer as a replacement for Petr Cech.

Widespread reports on Thursday morning suggested the England goalkeeper was wanted by Wenger with the club losing faith with Petr Cech – with many expecting the Czech to lose his place in the side in Saturday’s home clash with Hull.

Wenger was asked whether the club would be interested in a bid for out-of-favour Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart, but he insisted: “I have three world-class goalkeepers and I am happy with the three I have.”

The future of Jack Wilshere also remains very much a hot topic of debate at present with no word on whether his loan move to Bournemouth would become permanent at the end of the season.

Wenger, however, said he expects Wilshere, who has just under 18 months left on his current Arsenal deal, to return to the Emirates Stadium at the end of the season and “compete for his place in the side next season”.

When questioned if there had been a move from the Cherries to make the deal permanent, Wenger added bluntly: “There’s been no approach.”
