Winger deal on as Klopp admits interest in £95m Barcelona star

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has admitted that he is interested in signing Barcelona’s £95million flop Ousmane Dembele this summer.

The attacker only joined the La Liga giants last summer when he was bought for £135million, initially as Neymar’s replacement.

However, a serious injury early on wrecked his chances of creating an immediate impression and his form has suffered badly as a result since.

It is also claimed that the 20-year-old former Borussia Dortmund star has failed to settle in Catalonia and is already looking athis options with a view to quitting the Nou Camp.

And when Klopp was asked if he was interested in signing the France star, he said: “Is he on the market? Now I’m interested.”

The potential arrival of Dembele would certainly give the Reds another attacking option but it comes with a caveat.

Dembele has completed just one league match this season, has been subbed off in all but one of his nine starts and has scored just one La Liga goal.

For their part, Barca are looking to replace Dembele with his international team-mate Antoine Griezmann.

Klopp, meanwhile, has been tipped to look closer to home to strengthen his attack after reports on Sunday suggested that a £50m Premier League star will be for grabs.
