Wolfsburg realistic over De Bruyne future

After ending an unsuccessful spell at Chelsea, the Belgium international excelled last season as Wolfsburg finished second in the Bundesliga and won the German Cup.

Such form has attracted admiring glances from Manchester City, but Klaus Allofs says there have still been no formal offers for the 24-year-old.

“The situation is the same. We don’t want to sell him,” Allofs told Sky Sports News.

“As everybody knows, he has a contract until 2019. We have had no serious offers, but we know that there are clubs who are interested.

“He is happy with us, he made the right choice when he came as he was not happy at Chelsea. It was also the right move for Wolfsburg, and we know he is happy.”

While Allofs believes Wolfsburg can fend of the advances of the likes of City for now, he admitted that De Bruyne will eventually seek pastures new.

“We know we are not going to keep him until 2019, or even 2018,” Allofs added.

“He has only been with us for a year and a half. If he stays, which will probably be the case, he will be happy.”

Asked which club he thought he would be playing for next season, De Bruyne told Kicker: “I don’t know.

“I have to train well, and do all I can do be in good shape. We’ll then see about the rest.”
