Wolves chasing Premier League great to boost striking options

Premier League new boys Wolves are being linked with a shock move for veteran Everton striker Wayne Rooney this summer.

The former Manchester United and England frontman is being strongly tipped to quit Goodison Park after just one season back at his boyhood club, with a move to America thought to be his preferred destination.

Indeed MLS outfit DC United are thought to have shown an interest in the 32-year-old, with Sam Allardyce revealing on Wednesday what it would take for the player to consider quitting Merseyside this summer.

However, bookmakers have now made Championship winners Wolves the third favourites to land the frontman, with Scottish giants Rangers also in the running.

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo is said to want to add some valuable Premier League experience to his squad as they look to make a major mark on England’s top flight next season.
