Wolves ‘realistic’ on Sako

The Mali winger revealed at the weekend he is considering offers from the Premier League and abroad, with Wolves’ midlands neighbours West Brom and Aston Villa understood to be interested.

Moxey is planning to hold talks with 15-goal Sako but has warned supporters there is no way Wanderers can match the wages likely to be on offer elsewehere.

“Every fan knows the pull of the Premier League,” he said. “We’re talking about monies now which are so out of the stratosphere that no Championship club can compete with any Premier League club when it comes to a like-for-like financial basis.

“Sako has been a fantastic servant and we’ll be talking to him shortly. We’ll see what he wants to do. We want to keep him but as a free agent when the Premier League comes calling you have to be realistic.”

Sako has scored 36 goals in 118 league games since joining Wolves from St Etienne in August 2012.
